AFTER receiving numerous reports of muggings this past month, the SAPS is urging community members not to go for walks on their own.
The latest case was a woman held up on Saturday, around noon, while taking a stroll down Kolstertkring in Meerensee.
‘Fortunately, she was not hurt, but her cell phone was stolen,’ said Richards Bay SAPS spokesperson, Debbie Ferreira.
‘It is simply not safe walking by yourself – not even with your dogs.
‘We expect muggings to get worse heading closer to Christmas time so please refrain from going out alone.
‘Rather walk with company and ensure someone knows if you are out and about in the neighbourhood.’
