Auditions for youth orchestra

The youth orchestra is made up of young musicians from all over KZN.

THE KZN Youth Orchestra (KZNYO) will hold its second round of auditions for new members for next year at the Durban Music School on Saturday, 15 November from 1.30pm.

The youth orchestra is made up of young musicians from all over KZN.

The orchestra is looking for young players who are learning orchestral instruments.

The commitment is to rehearse on Friday nights at the Durban Music School in Daikonia Avenue (in the Esplanade area) from 4pm to 6.30pm during school term time.

Concerts are also arranged to take place on Friday evenings.

Should any young musicians be interested in auditioning, they need to be between the ages of 12 and 23, be at a Grade 3 music level for the shadow orchestra and a Grade 5 music level for the main orchestra.

Candidates must prepare two contrasting pieces and some scales. They may play with or without an accompanist.
