KZN wrestling championships heated up on the mat

Wrestlers were in the ring at the Richardia School Hall.

THE KZN Wrestling Championships hosted by Richards Bay Wrestling Club was held over the weekend.

This was the last event for the season, which saw competitors come from Dundee, Glencoe, Newcastle, Utrecht, Vryheid, Richards Bay, Volksrust and Durban.

Friday and Saturday saw wrestlers in action at the Richardia School Hall, with Sunday’s action moving to Pelican Island.

Edrich Nortje (Dundee), Willem Husselman (Dundee) and Erick de Wet (Newcastle) will leave for Germany this week for their Preparation Tour.

These three youngsters will wrestle in preparation for representing the SA team later in the year.

Spectators were kept entertained all weekend long, with 150 bouts, of two rounds each lasting three minutes.
