Hit-and-run suspect hands himself to police

Jaco Eksteen was struck by a car while walking along the North Central Arterial.

A MOTORIST who fled the scene after he knocked down and fatally wounded a pedestrian two weeks ago in Richards Bay, handed himself over to police last Monday.

Sibusiso Mlondo (20) was charged with culpable homicide and appeared in the Richards Bay Magistrate’s Court, where he was granted bail and released.

According to Richards Bay SAPS spokesperson, Captain Debbie Ferreira, the deceased Jaco Eksteen was struck by a car while walking along the North Central Arterial at 7pm that Sunday night.

The driver fled the accident scene and police later tracked down the vehicle, which the motorist had abandoned with a passenger still inside.
