HLUHLUWE police officers arrested a 24-year-old suspect in connection with a house fire at Ndlazi Compound.
It is thought the suspect had an argument with her boyfriend and set his house alight after he left for work at about 8am on 14 October.
The boyfriend, whose name has not been released, received notification from friends that his house was on fire.
When he arrived at the scene, his house was completely engulfed in flames, so much so that he was unable to retrieve his belongings. All his clothes were burnt in the fire.
The matter was reported to the police who arrested the man’s 24-year-old girlfriend who was then detained at Hluhluwe Police Station pending investigation.
A case of arson was opened and the suspect appeared in the Hluhluwe Magistrate’s Court.
