Tholokuhle High School pupils win R700 000 worth of prize sponsorship for their school.

ENSELENI school, Tholokuhle High bagged R600 000 as the runner ups in the 2014 Sanlam Kay Motsepe Schools Cup Competition.
The local champs lost 3-0 to Holy Trinity School from Atteridgeville in the final leg of the tournament held at Giant Stadium in Soshanguve, Tshwane.
This brings the school’s total win to R700 000, after they earned an initial R100 000 prize as the provincial champs.
The sum will not be handed over in cash, but the school will identify much needed projects that will benefit the school and its community.
Elated school principal,V Hlatshwayo said the U17 team enjoyed a good run with six wins and a draw to reach the final leg of the challenge.
‘We have been the first KZN school to advance to the national quarter finals and it is the first time we have gone so far in the competition; the success was due to the coach and team’s sheer hard work, drive and determination.
‘An added advantage to participating in the tournament was the scouting opportunities for our players from teams in the Premier Soccer League, who certainly had their eyes on on our sportsmen.
‘Our school is one that is truly needy, we struggle to secure sponsorship and this has been a blessing in disguise: the funds will be put to good use to develop our infrastructure, resources, teacher advancement and help the community we serve.
‘The competition is one that supports development in all aspects and even the reward goes into development; not only the school but its surrounding communities too.
‘It is important to note that sport training did not take away from our teaching, as our coach was a community member, Mr Dladla who conducted training sessions after school hours,’ said Hlatshwayo
