CONDOLENCES have been pouring in from all over Zululand for the well-known cameraman and director Mandla Biyela, who was gunned down at his home in eSikhaleni on Friday.
According to the police, Biyela was shot ten times inside his car by two armed men at close range, and died at the scene.
Witnesses told the police that the gunmen used a black VW Polo as their getaway car.
Biyela worked as a cameraman and director for the former Bay TV in Richards Bay, and was the first movie director and producer from eSikhaleni.
His friends and colleagues told the Zululand Observer that he was a humble man who inspired and assisted young people in the area.
‘He was a down to earth person that we looked up too and admired. He motivated many people in entertainment and in business,’ they said.
eSikhaleni SAPS spokesperson, Lt Thembinkosi Mkhumane said no arrests have been made, however, an investigation is underway.
