Fine form on the fairways

Shaun and Jeff win Izulu Orphan Projects golf day.

JEFF McGregor and partner Shaun Francis managed to beat 82 golfers to claim victory at the Izulu Orphan Projects annual sponsored golf day at the Empangeni Country Club on Saturday.

The duo carded 48 points after their 18 hole round, which included big drives, pin-point chips and accurate putting.

Golfers were spoilt with overcast and cool conditions, with the earlier groups battling a little with the wind.

The fairways were cut short and hard, which allowed balls to roll and increase distance, while the greens were medium.

All funds raised on the day will be used for feeding, educating, clothing and providing housing to rural children orphaned by HIV/AIDS in Zululand.

‘We were totally humbled by the support by the private and business sector and hope to see this becoming a popular feature on the Zululand sporting calendar,’ said Izulu Orphan Projects spokesperson Laurie Smith.
