ON 7 October, during the school holidays when kids are just being kids, the municipality sent employees around to check dog licenses.

The municipality has records of who has already paid their dog licences.

Now they sent young women around to the same homes and demanded from my child produce the licences.

My child (definitely not a grown-up who should know about these things), informed them that we do have dog licences and that their dad is at work and will be home shortly.

Just to waste my rates and taxes money a bit more, they proceeded to make out FOUR fines for the THREE dogs I own.

The municipality, paying for this service, is obviously throwing good money after bad business practices. Are there any more?

Surely it would be a better practice to use the list of dog licences paid and rather concentrate on owners who did not pay for dog licences.

Then follow up on owners who have never paid before as well.

This is just another example of management incompetence.

And on top of all this, we need to take leave to visit the municipality to sort out this issue. And believe me, addressing this with municipality employees is no easy task!
