The Bats are back
Book your seat to watch The Bats at the Rotary evening in Empangeni.

FANS of retro South African music and the comedy team The Bats are in for special treat when the veteran rock and roll funnymen are hosted by Rotary Empangeni to perform barnyard style on Thursday, 23 October at 7pm at the Umfolozi Casino Resort Dome.
The Bats’ special performance is in aid of raising funds for Rhino Art and local charities.
The Bats entered the South African showbiz scene in the mid-1960s when Eddie Eckstein, Paul Ditchfield, Pete Clifford and the late Barry Jarman became known to audiences as ‘South Africa’s answer to The Beatles’.
The group toured extensively, including in the United Kingdom, Zimbabwe and Germany with their music and comedy show for 16 years.
In 1980, with many hit singles under their belt, they decided to go their separate ways and pursue solo careers.
After a break of about 20 years, in 2000, The Bats reunited and are back rocking it out with the best of them. They offer a unique blend of musical skill and great comedy and have their audiences toe-tapping and chuckling in their seats.
In April last year Project Rhino KZN partnered with the Kingsley Holgate Foundation in the Izintaba Zobombo Expedition. The objective of the project is to gather the largest number of ‘Children’s Art Voices’ ever recorded in support of rhino protection and to use these ‘hearts and minds’ messages from the children of Africa as a worldwide call to action against rhino poaching.
To date more than 150 000 children have been reached and more than 10 000 pieces of art have been collected from more than 50 schools in KZN, Swaziland, Gauteng, Eastern Cape, Mpumalanga and Cape Town.
