
THE eShowe SAPS VISPOL and Detectives arrested two men for the murder of Simpiwe Phumlani Magwaza (21) of King Dinizulu suburb, eShowe.
Magwaza was found lying in the road by a motorist who took him to the King Dinizulu Clinic.
He was badly injured and had tyre marks on his body, indicating that he had been run over by a motor vehicle.
Magwaza died of his injuries at the clinic.
The case was reported to the eShowe SAPS who immediately searched for the vehicle identified by witnesses.
The witnesses also told the police that Magwaza was forcefully taken from his home by three men at midnight on Thursday, 25 September.
It was alleged that he had stolen someone’s property and the men were intending to punish him.
Police searched the area for the vehicle and arrested a suspect driving the vehicle.
On Friday the police were called to an incident at the eShowe taxi rank, but while on their way a blue breakdown vehicle sped past them.
The vehicle came to a sudden stop as the back tyre was damaged.
A large group of people gathered around the breakdown vehicle and they attacked the driver.
The police were told that the driver was one of the men involved in the murder of Magwaza.
The community confronted him, but he stole the breakdown vehicle and fled.
A shot was fired at the vehicle by one of the community members, damaging the tyre, but the suspect fled the scene with the community and taxi drivers giving chase.
The police arrested the driver.
More arrests
On further investigation, the person who had fired the shot was identified and was questioned by the police officers on scene .
They found a 9m pistol in his possession.
The firearm’s serial number was scratched off and the officers took the man to his place of residence and searched his home where they found a 7.65 pistol, also with the serial number removed.
The man was arrested for the possession of the unlicensed firearm.
The police are still searching for three more suspects involved in the murder of Magwaza.
