An experience fit for a king

uThungulu District Municipality will launch its new exciting tourism marketing campaign tonight.

THE uThungulu District Municipality will be launching its new exciting tourism marketing campaign, ‘The King’s Experience’ tonight at Protea Hotel The Richards at 6pm.

The campaign seeks to promote the district as the ultimate summer destination for both national and international tourists.

Celebrities such as Jessica Nkosi, who stars as Qondi on the popular Mzansi Magic soapie iSibaya, and Phindile Gwala, who stars in Muvhango as Phindile, have been drafted in to add value to the campaign.

Both these young talents come from the district, Nkosi from eSikhaleni and Gwala hailing from eShowe.

Marketing will be done in a road trip format where all the region’s destinations will be visited will filmed and ultimately produced as an advertisement for national television.

This will herald the commemoration of Tourism and Heritage Month and continue as a summer programme that will culminate in December with a festive season campaign to promote the district.

This is a first of its kind for the district, and the focus will be on promoting a multi-faceted destination as opposed to a gateway. The ambassador’s entourage will be joined by local celebrities and DJs.

Tourism product owners and interested stakeholders are invited to the launch, as well as to join the ambassadors tour to heritage sites on Saturday. The tour bus departs from the uThungulu District Municipality offices at 9am and seats are limited.

The tour will be a feast of culture, rich history and incredible sights, and members of the public are invited to join the tour by following the bus in their own vehicles.
