INFUSED with fervent flavours of the east, Chef Vasila Chetty (45) of East Coast Curries in Empangeni is eager to compete in this year’s cook-off and walk away as winner of the prestigious title.

Raised in a single parent home with her dad handling the household, Vasila stepped in to lend a helping hand in the kitchen and has been a natural at cooking ever since.

Passionate, skillful and smart with flavours, Vasila’s eastern infused cuisine is a hit throughout Zululand as she often caters for family and business functions.

A mother and grandmother of three, she says preparing mouth-watering meals for her family gives her the greatest pleasure.

Competing for the very first time in a culinary competition, Vasila is not intimidated by her competitors and gave the assurance that she will be bringing talent to the game.
