eShowe Soap Box derby this Sunday.

THE first eShowe Scouts Soapbox Derby returns to eShowe on Sunday with the running of the event in Saunders Street.

The race base will be at The Oval where there will be a tea garden and tuck shop, stalls offering refreshments and a flea market.

For the children waiting for their races, there will also be face painting, jumping castles, target shooting and pony rides.

Participants will be contesting races in two soapbox categories and various age groups.

The ‘disselboom’ category specifies a maximum of 16-inch wheels and no wheel bearings, while the wheel size is the same for F1, but wheel bearings are allowed.

Entry for children is R25 per person and they will compete in the six to 11 and 12 to 16 year age groups.

Entry for adults is R50 per person.

Registration starts at 8am, with the first race expected to get underway at 9am.
