A MAN was arrested near KwaMsane on Sunday morning on suspicion of attempted murder, after he allegedly shot another man in the chest.
The suspect and the victim, whose names have not yet been released, were reportedly fighting over a girl on Sunday morning when the suspect drew a firearm and shot the victim.
The bullet penetrated the victim’s chest and exited through his back.
He was rushed to a nearby hospital, the name of which has also not been released, where he is in a critical condition.
Immediately after the shooting, the police were notified and a description of the suspect was given, as well as a description of his vehicle with GP registration plates.
Shortly thereafter, the police tracked down the suspect, searched his vehicle and found the firearm attached to his waist.
He was immediately arrested under suspicion of attempted murder and is currently being held in Mtubatuba.
He will appear at the Mtubatuba Magistrate’s Court later in the week.
