CONTINUOUS rain could not dampen the enthusiasm of the 50 teams who participated in the eShowe High School seven-a-side soccer festival on Saturday.
Fourteen schools were represented in the tournament and no one team dominated the finals.
In the boys U19 division, Empangeni came out tops, while Felixton College won the girls U19 division.
John Ross College was totally outplayed by a highly motivated Empangeni A team who beat them 5-1.
The girls U19 was a much closer affair with eShowe High and Felixton having to fight it out on penalties with Felixton getting five in the net compared to eShowe’s four.
The eShowe U15 girls were more successful with a 4-1 win over Empangeni, while the U15 Empangeni boys fell 3-0 to St Henry’s Marist College in their final.
Richardsbaai Hoerskool beat Isandlwana 1-0 in the U16 boys’ division, while U14 boys Birdswood team ran out winners 2-1 against St Henry’s Marist College.
