Zamalatha Mngoma is the new Umfolozi FET College Work Based Experience Officer.
WORKING her way up the corporate ladder, Zamalatha Mngoma (35) is a new addition to the Umfolozi FET College and a passionate Work Based Experience Officer (WBE).
Responsible for finding host employers, doing site visits, arranging grooming sessions for placements and applying for student funding, mainly stipends, Zamalatha tends to focus more on the placing of Engineering, Information Technology, Transport and Logistics students.
‘My duties also include finding learnerships, apprenticeships as well as experiential learning programmes. It requires passion in grooming future leaders which are our students,’ she said.
‘I feel privileged to be in this position and enjoy the challenges that come with it. I love what I do and I enjoy learning new strategies which help me receive hands-on knowledge on how to deal with my daily tasks.’
Despite challenges, Zamalatha believes focus is imperative.
‘Focus on something that will benefit you at a later stage seeing as we come from different backgrounds. Always put your family first, before anything, so that you will uplift your family and contribute in improving the economy of this country.’ she said.
Born and raised in Klaarwater Township, Pinetown, Zamalatha is one of six children.
Holding a Diploma in Business Management from Umfolozi FET College and a certificate in Human Resources from UNISA, Zamalatha is currently studying toward a Bachelor of Arts degree in Applied Psychology.
When this vibrant career-driven woman is not at the office or preparing for her exams, to alleviate stress, she enjoys a good book, cooking a tasty meal or an energetic session of aerobics at the gym.
