Well known local artist, Joe Marais, has donated a painting of a Ferrari to the Dice4Dice charity run.
The painting will be auctioned off on Saturday night (16 August) at a function held at the Umfolozi Casino Resort.
Last year, Joe painted a Porsche for the auction which sold for a whopping R50 000, boosting the DICE coffers considerably.
He usually paints wildlife and landscapes, but Joe said when it comes to cars, nothing beats a red Ferrari.
A natural talent and love for drawing led him to start sketching and painting and, over the years, he gradually developed his own style in his preferred medium of acrylics.
In June 1993, his painting of two sparrows on a milk can was selected for the back page of Readers’ Digest and in 1995 he was invited to exhibit at the Washington Square Outdoor Art Exhibition.
He has also exhibited successfully in Central Park, New York, Canada and London.
In 2004, he exhibited at the Safari Club International Convention in Reno, Nevada.
His paintings can now be found all over the world and has sparked the interest of both local and foreign tourists who are pleased to purchase a visual keepsake of this lovely area.
From his gallery in the Meerensee Mall in Richards Bay, Joe said he hopes the red Ferrari will set a record at the Dice4DICE auction.
