Seven records broken at inter-house athletics

Trogons shine while Bishops cheer at inter-house athletics meet.

SEVEN records were broken at the Grantleigh College inter-house athletics day on Saturday.

The blistering speeds, towering heights, momentous jumps and hoarse voices, kept parents, teachers and spectators entertained.

The day was filled with action on the fields and cheering from the stands.

Pupils showcased their athletic ability, which made coaches proud.

In the end, Trogons house took home the trophy and bragging rights for 2014, after a fine all round display.

Records – Kenneth Blecksley (boys U19 shot put) 11.66m, Chene van Wyk (girls U15 discuss) 24.81m, Jarod Waldapfel (boys U15 200m) 25.20, Phila Maxase (boys U14 long jump) 5.31m and boys U14 shot put 11.94m, Liam de Villiers (boys U15 high jump) 1.80m and Timothy McCann (boys U16 shot put) 13.70m.
