THE road death toll in Zululand keeps climbing as emergency services worked around the clock this weekend.
On Saturday night a biker died on the N2 near Eteza.
According to Joseph Kruger from Mounties Ambulance Serives, the accident occurred when a car and bike collided near the Mfolozi Bridge.
An eyewitness said the car was overtaking a truck when it collided with the bike.
The driver of the car was taken to Ngwelezana Hospital for further treatment.
According to a relative of the biker, the deceased had driven from Pretoria to enjoy a men’s weekend away at the North Coast with other riders from his bike club.

On Sunday at 4am, two people were killed in a crash involving a truck and a bakkie. The accident happened on the R34 towards Jabulani in the Empangeni area. One other person was seriously injured and transported to hospital in a critical condition.
Two hours later paramedics responded to an accident near the Mbilane Bridge in Ulundi.
Ten people travelling in a bakkie were involved and all suffered injuries ranging from minor to critical. One person succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
The seriously injured patients were transported to Nkonjeni Hospital nearby.
KZN Emeregency Medical Services Media (EMS) Liaison Officer Robert Mckenzie said that it had been an extremely busy weekend for emergency services in Zululand.
‘The paramedics from KZN EMS have been kept busy with a multitude of cases ranging from patients with medical conditions to patients with traumatic injuries.
‘The cases responded to included multiple motor vehicle accidents and several of these resulted in fatal injuries. People are cautioned to drive safely and stay alert, especially when traveling at night,’ he said.
