Quirky video is talk of the town

Seeff Richards Bay's Elaine Chetty said the video had received a phenomenal response from the community.

A sensational new video about Richards Bay is going viral, with close to 10 000 views on YouTube within four days of launching.

The fun, quirky video is the talk of the town.

I Love Zululand and Seeff Properties launched, ‘Happy – Richards Bay’ last Friday.

Produced by Tim Hay of Hellmot Productions, the video showcases numerous locals, including the Seeff Staff dancing at well known places around the town.

Popular local dance studio Dance Academy coordinated the dancing.

‘Happy’ is a song performed by American singer and producer, Pharrell Williams, released on 21 November last year.

To coincide with the single release, the website 24hoursofhappy.com was launched featuring a visual presentation of ‘Happy’ advertised as being ‘the world’s first 24-hour music video’.

The original video spawned many cover videos on YouTube in which people from different cities worldwide dance to the song. To date more than 1 500 videos had been created.

Feel good factor

Seeff Richards Bay’s Elaine Chetty said the video had received a phenomenal response from the community.

‘We saw the Ballito and Cape Town video and thought that our City would be the perfect place for a video like this. We then approached Tim Hay to showcase our beautiful City and its one-of-a-kind people and, so far, the response has been phenomenal with people getting the feel good factor about our City just by watching the video. ‘Popular Social Media site, Facebook, has shown engagement with more than 110 000 people as a result of ‘I love Zululand’ and Seeff Richards Bay’s fans sharing the video onto their timelines.

‘YouTube views have been impressive as well. I guess this video makes everyone appreciate how privileged we are to be living in this stunning part of the world. Thank you to everyone who gave of their time to make this happen,’ said Seeff Richards Bay’s, Elaine Chetty.
