Pet cemetery for Empangeni

Lay your four-legged friend to rest in a safe and secure memorial garden.

LAY a beloved pet to rest in peace in a new pet cemetery.

Animal lovers will be relieved that a proposal initiated by the Empangeni SPCA and a local farmer will ensure a safe and secure burial spot for deceased animals in the area.

This was recently discussed during the SPCA AGM held at the Empangeni Country Club.

After an outcry of complaints from those who witnessed the dumping of dead animals, the Empangeni SPCA reacted quickly to the horrible situation and were given a plot of land to use as a ‘cemetery’ for animals.

Other topics discussed included the opening of the second-hand goods shop at 5 Ways Mall which has steadily contributed to their financial bottom line enabling the SPCA to keep the doors open.

The association has also had a great financial contribution via the annual calendar launch, driven by Lynne Van Den Heuwel, Berdette and Chantelle Down of Pizazz Modelling, the Empangeni Dog Club members and volunteers who kindly give of their time and expertise.

An astounding total of 7 847 dogs have been handled by the SPCA last year and the committee thanks the countless community members, veterinaries and companies for their regular and generous donations.

Funds are still critically required to keep the doors open and if you would like to contact the SPCA or make a donation, call 035 792 9129 or email info@empangenispca.co.za.

Attending the SPCA AGM are Cheryl Whittaker (Vice-Chair), Cheryl Kingon (Secretary), Karen Scruby (Committee Member), Dave Whittaker (Chair), Lynne Van Den Heuwel (Fund-Raising Convener) and Kerry Hunter (Treasurer)
