Kenny van Niekerk has been selected by SARU to attend the SA Schools trials in Kempton Park.
ZULULAND rugby ace Kenny van Niekerk has been selected by SARU in a 55-man squad to attend the SA Schools trials on Saturday at the Barnard Stadium in Kempton Park.
The 18-year-old loosehead prop forward, who weighs in at 105kg and stands 1.85m tall, impressed selectors at the U18 Coca-Cola Craven Week in Middleburg last week while playing for KZN.
The ex-Heuwelland Primary School pupil who is currently completing his matric year at Glenwood High School, will play hard on Saturday and put up his hand to see if he makes the SA U18 team or SA Academy squad.
The Empangeni lad has two brothers and lives with stepmom Charmaine and dad Mark when his home for weekends.
Kenny has a bright and exciting rugby future ahead of him.
He signed a contract for 2015 with the Lions franchise, where he will play U19 Currie Cup and study Sports Science at the University of Johannesburg.
The youngster, who was awarded a bursary for the Sharks Academy and offered a contract by the Bulls, has chosen to go to the Lions.
