THERE were 254 finishers in the 25km race and another 138 the 50km race at the Build it Kwambo Lion on Sunday in perfect cycling weather.
The track also allowed for some fast times as the cyclists took on the route through mainly eucalyptus plantations and cane fields around KwaMbonambi.
This was the third race in the Bell Big Five series, but only the second to count for series points after the Pick n Pay eShowe Elephant’s points were anulled owing to markers being moved along the route.
The Luw family of eShowe continue to impress with Jade once again finishing first in the 10km U13 race, André taking second place in the 25km master category and Sharon finishing the 25 vet in fourth just four seconds behind third placed Suzy Boucher.
The next event in the Bell Big Five Series will be the Monzi Anchor Capital Hippo Challenge on Sunday, 7 September.
