Fire breaks out in new mall

SPEEDY response by fire services and the effectiveness of the sprinkler system prevented extensive damage after a began at about 10pm on Friday in Shop 7 at the newly-opened Mtuba Mall.

The full extent of the damage is still being reviewed; however it appears that it is contained to the store itself and products damaged in the store.
Centre Manager, Maria Rankin said: ‘We are relieved that no injuries were sustained and that the fire was contained.’We are in the process of compiling reports for insurance purposes and conducting an investigation into the cause of the fire.
‘We applaud the fire department for their quick response and thank other support staff for their assistance during this incidence.’
The mall is trading over the weekend and it will be business as usual.’
