Model Mariska takes a step up

Mariska began modelling at the tender age of five and has always had a passion for modelling.

One of the most exciting events on the fashion calender, the Vodacom Durban July, holds rank as the perfect venue for upcoming models, and local model Mariska de Jager grabbed the opportunity by the horns as she made her way to the ramp at this year’s event.

Currently a model trainee teacher at Trelique Modelling & Promotions Agency, Mariska began modelling at the tender age of five and has always had a passion for modelling.

‘I have been taking part in various pageants,’ said Mariska, ‘and was recently crowned Miss Teen Youth Ambassador Zululand 2014, Miss Summer Fun and Miss Teen Baby Tasha Lucas Foundation, to name a few.’

She believes in ‘beauty with a purpose’ and giving back to the community.

One of her most recent community projects was on World Hunger Day which had some of the Trelique models and moms prepare food which they distributed to the homeless.

‘It is always a privilege and blessing for me to be able to make a difference in someone’s life.’.

Trelique Modelling & Promotions Agency recently informed their models that the KZN Fashion Council was holding casting sessions for the Durban July VIP show.

‘It has been my dream to be part of such a fashion fair for some time and I was blessed to be chosen to showcase one of the stunning gowns by Sarojini Moodley-Khyrid.’.

She has been approached by many agencies around the country over the past few months and recently signed with Boss Models, one of South Africa’s leading modelling agencies.

‘I am super excited about working with them and what my future holds in the world of the modelling.’
