No change in by-election results

BY-ELECTIONS were held in Ward 6 of Hlabisa (Somkele) and Ward 22 of the KwaDukuza (Stanger) Municipalities.

In the Hlabisa ward the Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) retained its seat with Themba Herbert Zungu receiving 41.45% of the votes.

The National Freedom Party (NFP) received 717 votes, the African National Congress (ANC) 618 votes and the IFP 945 votes.

This is about 2% less than the 2011 Municipal Elections.

KwaDukuza also saw no change as Malcolm William Hubner of the Democratic Alliance (DA) won 67.12% of the vote.

In a two-party contest, Hubner received 1 833 votes for the DA while the ANC received 898 votes.

This is just under 17% more than the municipal elections in 2011.
