Bay masked robbery suspects cuffed

It is believed the four men threatened a security guard at a Meerensee house.

THE masked robbers who targeted a Meerensee house four weeks ago, have been arrested and charged this week.

Phumzile Jali, Nomcebo Nene, Sihle Mkani and Mbuso Mchunu appeared in the Richards Bay Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday and were remanded in custody until today (Thursday) for a formal bail application.

The accused were arrested in connection with a house robbery which occurred in Kolsterkring last month, where suspects wearing balaclavas threatened the security guard stationed at the house with a firearm.

They demanded the keys to the house and a vehicle from the domestic worker and loaded the goods onto the homeowner’s bakkie before fleeing.

The vehicle was later recovered. The owner was not at home at the time of the incident.
