Success for karateka’s

Brackenham Goju Kai Karate Dojo took part in a tournament in Durban and performed well.

THE karateka team from the Brackenham Goju Kai Karate Dojo fought their way to the podium at the recent 19th annual International Federation of the Funakoshi Shotokan Karate (IFFSK) Friendship Championships held at the University of KZN, Old Mutual Sports Hall in Durban.

The team of 11 managed to do well with more than 500 students participating in these championships.

‘I am very proud of my students who performed exceptionally well. This event, which was hosted by Eric Govender Kyoshi from the IFFSK, was thoroughly enjoyed by all participants, instructors and spectators,’ said Sensei Sonny Kisten.

The team that brought home medals were – Keown Naidoo, Nikita Pillay, Jayden Govender, Owen Naidoo, Waaliha Bux, Kiara Naidoo, Kyren Ramsamy, Sensei Renaldo Varden , Jason-Lee Naidoo (Coach for the Day), Sensei Rekha Govender, Jolene Dhaver, Krivern Ramsamy, Kiovin Govender and Sensei Sonny Kisten (Chief Instructor of the Brackenham Dojo and Provincial Head NKZN Goju Kai Karate-Do).
