Dynamite in a small package

Nicole's got brains and brawn.

GRANTLEIGH’S Grade 10 pupil Nicole Amalia Anderson (16) is proof that dynamite comes in small packages.

Nikky, as she is called by her classmates and friends, excels both in the classroom and out on the sport fields.

Averaging between 70 and 80 percent for her seven subjects and achieving provincial colours for cricket and hockey while also making her mark in athletics and swimming, is all in a day’s work for this young talented all-rounder.

Her sporting resume reads as follows – KZN U13 cricket (2011), KZN U19 cricket squad (2014), KZN U14 Coastal B hockey side (2012), KZN U16 Country Districts hockey side (2013/2014), Northern Coastal U14, U15 and U16 swimming, Northern KZN swimming championships (2013), Level 2 swimming champs (2013) and Northern Coastal Athletics (2013 – 1 500m, 800m and 400m.

When not performing in the classroom or out on the sporting fields, Nikky can be found fishing or scrap-booking.

‘When life gets too hectic, I like to gym, listen to music or go for a jog on our farm.

‘I firmly believe that I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.’

Her advice to fellow teens and friends is, ‘Do not let the hard knocks in life get you down. Brush them off and get right back up and try again……..never give up.’
