Rhinos down in the dumps

Rhinos lose to Rovers at Mick Kelly Park.

THERE were no game rangers to protect the carnage of the Rhinos as the first team hit the field at Mick Kelly Park, Empangeni on Friday evening.

After a string of poor performances, one cannot help but think that the relegation game will definitely be on the cards for the home lads.

A classy Rovers side carved holes in the home side’s back-line and steamrolled the forwards.

Rovers took a handsome 47-7 lead going into the shed at half time after playing classic running rugby in slippery conditions.

The visitors stepped it up in the second half, outclassing the Rhinos in every aspect of the game.

Rovers took a dominant 89-14 bonus point victory for their efforts.

Rhinos 2 came out as the underdogs against a well balanced College Rovers outfit.

To the crowd’s surprise, Rhinos held their own in the set play and went into the shed at half time, boosting with confidence, as the scoreboard read 12-6 to Rovers.

Unfortunately, the wheels fell off in the second half as Rovers brought the heat which was too much to handle for the home lads, with the final score reading 80-6 to Rovers (cut 10 minutes short).
