Baby Bok Mkhabela playing well

Zululand's Mthokozisi Mkhabela is playing in the 2014 IRB Junior World Championship.

HARD work, sweat and some major determination has paid off again for former Zululander, Mthokozisi Mkhabela, who was selected for the Junior Springbok squad currently playing in the 2014 IRB Junior World Championship hosted in New Zealand.

Mkhabela attended Grantham Park Primary School before moving to Glenwood High Scool to finish his schooling career.

Mthokozisi was previously selected for the SA Schools Academy side in 2011 and played at the U18 Craven week in 2012.

The talented scrum-half raised eyebrows last year while playing for the Cheetahs U19 side and continued his form this year while playing for Shimlas Young Guns U20 outfit before getting his Bok call-up.

South Africa Under-20 coach, Dawie Theron and the national selectors, Peter Jooste and Ian McIntosh, selected the 28-man squad following an intensive identification and trial process.

More than 50 players attended the training camp which ran for almost three weeks in Stellenbosch and included two trial matches as well as several training games.

During the Junior Springboks’ first game against Scotland, Mkhabela started at scrumhalf and played 68 minutes with some fast crisp service and remarkable hands.

The Junior Springboks went on to win the game after scoring nine tries beating Scotland 61-5.
