Bay oil recycler shines on national stage

Richards Bay Oils crowned as Best Oil Collector of the Year.

WITH a staff complement of only three people, used oil collector Richards Bay Oils beat 73 other worthy competitors nationwide to take the crown as Best Oil Collector of the Year.

At the award ceremony, hosted by the National Oil Recyclers Association (NORA) in Johannesburg on Friday, the business was recognised for good practice, cleanliness and commendable safety standards in compliance with the association’s regulations.

‘This award means the world to us,’ said Richards Bay Oils owner Dup du Preez.

‘It’s our priority to keep clients satisfied and our environment green and clean at all times.

‘I’m especially proud of my team, John Mthembu and Vusi Mhlondo.

‘It was through sheer hard work and determination that we’ve accomplished this milestone.’

Du Preez bought the business three years ago and have since been collecting used oil from local filling stations, workshops and factories, ensuring their oil and related materials are disposed of responsibly and given a new life.
