TWO men appeared in the Mtunzini Magistrate’s Court in connection with the murder of Sbonelo Nzuza (13).
The teen was clubbed to death allegedly because his mother owed the men money.
First accused, Sifiso Betwane (29) and his nephew Nhlanhla Peter Xulu (20) were both remanded in custody until a high court date has been set.
However, Betwane has indicated he will be pleading guilty.
Nzuza went missing on Sunday, 27 April after cycling to the home of Betwane.
His mother became worried when he did not return home. She reported the boy missing to the Gingindlovu SAPS and investigations led the police to Betwane’s residence in the Mvutshini area.
It is believed the boy’s mother owed money to the accused and that he may have kept the child captive.
Betwane was arrested and the boy’s bicycle was recovered at the suspect’s house.
