Zululand men claim hockey title

THE Zululand men’s A hockey side cleaned up the opposition at the KZNCD hockey tournament in Pietermaritzburg over the past weekend, claiming the prestigious trophy for their efforts.

To top this achievement, striker Berto Basson won the Player of the Tournament award after dominating proceedings on the astroturf.

The local lads were all business from day one, thrashing the Zululand B side 6-0 and drumming the Midlands B side 4-0.

The team carried their form into the second day, beating Northens A side 3-1, Northens B side 6-0 and Midlands A side 2-1.
