
AN unidentified woman’s body was discovered stabbed, battered and burnt on a gravel road near KwaMbonambi on Monday.
KwaMbonambi SAPS reported to the scene near the Msunduzi Bridge at 9am to find that the victim had sustained six stab wounds to her chest, five stab wounds on her back, a cut on her neck and two cuts on her thighs.
The young woman, believed to be around 25 years old, also had burn wounds and was wearing clothes that had been scorched.
However, police found no ashes, indicating that she was burnt and murdered at another location before being dropped on the road.
‘The identity of the deceased has not yet been established and we request the public, who have a family member missing, or have any information regarding this matter, to contact the investigating officer Constable Sakhile Nsibande on 035 5808050,’ said KwaMbonambi SAPS spokesperson Lieutenant Bongani Msane.
Her body is being kept at the Richards Bay Mortuary.
A case of murder was opened by the police.
