ANC claims uMhlathuze victory

UMHLATHUZE RESULTS IN: ANC takes over two-thirds of the vote

THE ANC reaffirmed its dominance in the City of uMhlathuze when it claimed over two-thirds of the vote in the national and provincial ballot.

Results streaming in from the IEC Centre in Richards Bay showed that the ANC claimed 71.78% of the national vote followed by the DA’s 11.07%, IFP’s 8.15% and 4.85% by the NFP.

New kid on the block – EFF secured 1.83% of the national ballot at uMhlathuze where a total of 141, 320 votes were cast.

For the provincial ballot, where a total of 139, 639 votes were cast at uMhlathuze, the ANC won 70.22% of the vote, followed by the DA’s 10.28%, IFP’s 9.42% and NFP’s 6.53%.

Compared to the 2009 ballot, this year’s result shows that the DA has ousted the IFP as the official opposition in the municipality.
