Schools action at Saints

Winter sports action between Felixton College and St Catherines.

ST CATHERINE’S Schools sports fields was ‘alive’ with sporting action on Thursday afternoon when Felixton College arrived on the doorstep to compete on the hockey fields and netball courts.

Only the high school sections competed, which saw Felixton being crowned queens of the courts and St Catherine’s queens of the fields.

Felixton College managed to win both the first and second team netball matches, the first team winning 29-7 the second team cruising home 17-6.

The roles were reversed on the hockey fields, with St Catherine’s claiming a 2-0 wins in both the U14 A and second team games.

Sarah Giles scored twice for the U14 outfit to secure her side’s win.

The first team clash produced great action, with both sides asking questions in the goal boxes.

Both sides played fast, competitive hockey, showcasing great indivdual skills and teamwork.

But it was Aimee Mittermeyer from Felixton who found the back of the ‘Saints’ box late in the second half to help her side claim a 1-0 victory.
