
THE ANC has taken Ntambanana and Mthonjaneni Municipalities in this year’s elections.
This is the latest news from the IEC results centre in Richards Bay.
Votes from two of the four municipalities in the uThungulu District have been counted with the ANC getting 55.66% of the votes in Ntambanana, followed by the IFP with 29.02% and NFP with 10.46%. The DA came in at fourth place with 2.02% of the votes.
This municipality was previously an IFP stronghold.
The ANC took top position at Mthonjaneni with 47.59% followed by the IFP with 34.34%, the NFP got 12.60% and the DA 2.98% with the EFF securing 1.04% of the votes.
By 3.15pm today, votes from uMhlathuze, Mfolozi, uMlalazi and Nkandla had not been finalised yet.
The results so far are:
uMhlathuze: ANC – 69.68%, DA -14.24%, IFP -8.06%, NFP 3.87%, EFF -1.49% with 71 outstanding voting districts to be captured.
uMlalazi: ANC -60.93%, IFP -24.10%, NFP -8.74%, DA -3.41%, EFF -1% with 57 outstanding voting districts to be captured.
Nkandla: ANC -55.60%, IFP -37.24% and NFP -4.46% with 64 outstanding voting districts to be counted.
Mfolozi: ANC -67.42%, IFP -21.83%, NFP -5.04%, DA -2.28%, EFF -1.69% with 7 outstanding voting districts to be counted.
IEC officials expect to finish counting the votes by midnight.
