KZN Youth Choir perform in Empangeni

Sweet songs on Saturday night.

ZULULANDERS can look forward to the harmonic melodies of the KZN Youth Choir, this Saturday (10 May), at 6:30pm at the Empangeni High School Hall.

The choir’s successful participation in international choir competitions, since,has launched it nationally and internationally.

Last year, the group travelled to Florence, Italy to compete in the Florence International Choir Festival, where 18 other choirs from around the world participated.

This festival was aimed at professional choirs and the choir scooped the following prizes – Silver in the Sacred Music Category, Gold in the Chamber Choir Category, Gold for Best Female Soloist (Pearl Khwezi) and Gold for Best Contemporary Arrangement (Gerard’d du Toit for ‘Sounds of Africa’).

This weekend, four local schools will perform as part of the pre-programme: Heuwelland, Empangeni High School (winners of choral section Eisteddfod 2012), Birdswood Secondary (winners of SASCE 2013 National Competition) and Ikhandlela Intermediate School (winners SASCE 2012 National Competition).

Tickets cost R50 per person and can be purchased at Empangeni High School or at the door.
