Bay school girl jets off to Germany
Exchange student, Jenna Hoorzuk needs support for her trip.
RICHARDS Bay High School’s Jenna Hoorzuk will jet off to Germany as she was recently selected as an exchange student on the Friends of South Africa Exchange Programme (FSA).
After performing well in her entry exam, the Grade 11 pupil scored 81,6 % and was placed 4th provincially and 19th nationally.
The purpose of this programme is to encourage personal growth and development, experience other cultures and exchange knowledge.
‘I will be representing South Africa and sharing our culture and natural history with them.
‘I applied for the programme mainly because my mum’s stories about her time in Germany always fascinated me, even when she spoke about just travelling by train.
‘It also seemed like a wonderful opportunity to have a little escape before the pressure of matric and university,’ said Jenna.
Jenna is enthusiastic about life and is passionate about children. She dreams of building a career that involves either healing or teaching children.
The intelligent young lady thanked her grandmother for always being her motivation to work hard and never give up.
‘My grandmother has been the most hardworking, loving and determined person in my life. She has dedicated her whole life to her family and their well-being. She loves us all differently and encourages us to always do more than we meant to do and she makes us feel loved and special,’ said Jenna.
The cost of the exchange programme is almost R40 000 and, due to financial circumstance, Jenna will have to raise the amount to participate.
If anyone would like to assist Jenna to make her dreams come true, contact her mother, Mercia Hoorzuk, on 082 4911641.
If funds permit, the bubbly teen will depart on 27 June from Johannesburg’s OR Thambo International Airport.
Well Done and Congratulations Jenna! We love you!
