School action at its best
The rugby, hockey and netball games between Grantham Park and Veldenvlei Primary School produced heated action .
THE Grantham Park Primary School (GPPS) fields were teeming with action on Thursday afternoon when Veldenvlei Primary School challenged GPPS in hockey, netball and rugby.
The first team girls hockey encounter kick-started the day, with the visitors taking a 1-0 half-time lead thanks to a goal from Mikelle Botes.
But after the break, Grantham upped their game, which resulted in a goal from Sinemile Makhanya to draw level at 1-1, the final score.
The first team netball match was a tight affair, which saw the teams head into the shed tied at 6-6 at half-time.
But then Veldenvlei moved up a gear to win the game 15-9.
The first team boys hockey followed, with Grantham Park losing 0-3.
Junior Mungwana found the back of the goal box for the visitors to give his side a 1-0 lead at half-time.
The Bay school then put two in the back of the net in the second half to seal the game.
The first team rugby ended off the day’s action in an encounter that produced huge hits, big hand-offs and nail biting moments.
Both sides went into the interval deadlocked at 7-7.
GPPS grabbed six points in the second half to emerge 12-7 victors.
