OUR Traffic Department always seems to take a lot of flack from unhappy residents and motorists.
And yes, I do agree, there are a number of issues that I feel they could handle a whole lot better. For example, when the traffic lights are not working their presence would be greatly appreciated. Or, when they hide in bushes and under bridges like trolls out of a children’s book, trying to catch us out; or when they demand money for fines we are not even aware of, or else threaten to lock us up.
However, I am digressing here, my point today is, we should also say well done to them.
The road accident statistics over the Easter Weekend, while still high, are showing a definite decrease and this is due to their visible monitoring.
I counted numerous speed traps, a number of roadblocks and traffic officials driving around and watching for people driving recklessly, over the long weekend.
Well Done Guys, you definitely saved lives.
Keep it up.
A JOB WELL DONE
