I WOULD like to know if members of certain church groups are more important than others?

On Saturday morning at 4.45am, we encountered a ‘blue light brigade’ of vehicles in Biyela Road, Empangeni.

These were just leaving the Imbizo Conference Centre after, what we understood, was a church gathering.

Since when are church members or, for that matter, pastors or preachers so important that they are entitled to use blue lights – which we understand are actually for security purposes for members of the presidency and higher.

There were no black 4x4s with tinted windows or any of the like, which one normally sees in these more official ‘blue light brigades’.

These were normal everyday vehicles, many with personalised number plates, one of which was ‘Simply’.

On Sunday, again, we encountered this convoy, turning onto the N2 coming from the direction of Empangeni (R34). Obviously the church gathering was for the whole weekend.

This time an unmarked khaki coloured bakkie with a number plate with a ‘B’ led the procession. This is the standard number plate for police vehicles.

Security was definitely not the reason for the blue lights, as halfway up the on-ramp, two of the vehicles stopped and the people got out to have a ‘pit stop’ next to the road, while the rest sped off down the highway, blue lights flashing.

Who do these pompous people think they are, full of their own self-importance? Don’t forget, we are all equal in the eyes of the Lord, and only the meek shall enter the gates of Heaven.
