Zane grows from strength to strengh

Zane Ison is training hard to defend his World Title.

IRON Ison is not sitting and ‘weighting’ around to try qualify for the upcoming National Championships.

He is training hard, sweating it out and man-handling the weights which payed off at the 2014 WAR at RAW Powerlifting Competition on Saturday in Honeydew, Johannesburg.

Zane ‘Iron’ Ison who is currently ranked number one in South Africa (SA) with ten SA records and World Champion with four world records threw the weights around, impressing with his strength.

The Rhino Powerlifting Club hosted the competition at RAW Fitness Athletics Gym. Zane grows from strength to strength

Over 40 athletes competed at this prestigious event from all over SA, with hopes of qualifying for World Championships as well as get ready for the upcoming National Championships on 21 June.

Zane showed off his brute strength when he opened all three of his events with his own World Records.

He started the Squats event with 302.5 kg’s, Bench Press at 185 kg’s and Deadlifts at 285 kg’s.

Zane smashed his current World record for squats, after completing a massive 310 kg lift.

Unfortunately this could not be recognised as at least one international referee had to be present at the competition.

The ‘Ironman’ won his category of M-M2 at Super Heavy Weight and was awarded The Best Lifter of the Day award after gathering 780 points, which indicates his total lifts of 780 kg over the three events for the day.

Zane is training hard to defend his World Title and aims at claiming a World Title in the Equipped Category as well this year.

The World Championships will be hosted by GPC Argentina and will take place at the Amerian Hotel Iguaza from 29 September to 4 October.

With the support of The Force Richards Bay and Frank’s Gym, Zane could grow from strength to strength.
