TEAMS from Co-operative Governance and Traditional Affairs are responding to two disasters following heavy storms in the Pongola and Bergville areas of the province.
One person has died after a lightning strike in the Pongola area on Sunday night, while a hospital with up to 150 patients near Bergville, was badly damaged in the storm.
The department’s Lennox Mabaso said officials are still assessing the communities’ needs.
KZN Premier, Senzo Mchunu visited the Pongola family on Monday.
