EZEMVELO KZN Wildlife field rangers came under fire from suspected poachers in the Ozabeni section of the iSimangoliso Wetland Park on Tuesday.
After the gun fire, one suspected poacher was found dead and an R1 rifle was recovered.
A joint operation between Ezemvelo and SAPS resulted in the arrest of another suspect and the recovery of a .375 rifle with silencer.
Human bones as well as ones of various species such as leopard, elephant and giraffe were also found on the scene.
