YOUNG, up-and-coming female junior paddler Megan Scrace dominated the short course race at the third Nashua Autumn Surfski Series on Saturday, held at the Zululand Kayak Club.
Competitors were greeted with really great conditions and with high tide at New Ark, paddlers got to test their beaching skills.
Andre Schutte came in second, with new entrant, Jade Dicks, achieving third place.
The long course measured 12.7 km, which saw a big field and plenty of new faces on the scene.
Bronwyn Wissekerke is currently dominating the female long course section, with Colleen Struwig in second and Louise Wood in third place.
But this week’s race saw Stretch Struwig continue to dominate the series, with his third win.
Mike Stevens tried to chase him down, but finished in second, with Brian Chedzey in third.
Race four takes place on Saturday (15 March) at the Zululand Kayak Club.
Registration takes place at 8.30am, followed by the race briefing and then it is race time at 9am.
The talk is of a downwind course, but one will have to wait for the weekend.
