Gliding success in Bay

Struwig 'stretched' his lead in the Nashua Autumn Surfski Series

STRETCH Struwig ‘stretched’ his lead in the Nashua Autumn Surfski Series after his second consecutive win at Saturday’s event held at the Zululand Kayak Club.

Under great conditions, seasoned and novice paddlers took to the waters with the calm south-westerly wind allowing competitors to step up their game.

The 13.2 km course was marked out by Andre Smuts and measured by Nigel Stevens.

With interesting surf turns at Pelican Island and New-Ark keeping paddlers at bay, the short course crew opted to paddle the long course for an extra challenge.

The next race will be on Saturday, 8 March, with eight races left in the series.

The entry is R100 per paddler.
