FOUR men wanted for a range of crimes in a number of different areas were arrested in Mtubatuba on Tuesday .
After receiving information about the suspects’ whereabouts, the KwaMsame Tactical Response Team under the command of Captain Nhampose apprehended the men in a stolen VW Polo.
The Polo is alleged to have been stolen in Empangeni last month. The suspects are wanted for committing a range of crimes, including housebreaking, armed robberies, business robberies, car hi-jacking and stock theft in Hluhluwe, Mtubatuba, Hlabisa, Empangeni, KwaMsane and Richards Bay.
When the men were detained, two firearm were found in their possession, a 9mm pistol and a .38 special revolver.
Two of the men, Nhlakanipho Sibiya (20) and Thabani Gina (24) appeared briefly in the Mtubatuba Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday for possession of an illegal firearm and the case was remanded until 4 March.
All four suspects were later transferred to Hlabisa and charged with armed robbery, a crime committed earlier in the year. The suspects will also be taken to Empangeni, KwaMsame and Hluhluwe for further charges.
